Why have most of Snopp Dogg's albums gone platnium?

I've only heard a little off of Doggystyle, and most of the rest of what i've heard of him (just tracks here and there) i haven't particularly impressed by (ex: sensual ). is Snoop all that great? yeah i probably spelt his name wrong but right now... whatever
