Help choosing right dog breed?

Hey, I am considering getting a dog for myself and my family. The dog we've been considering for a while has been a German Shorthaired Pointer, but due to the apartment, we've began to reconsider. Exercise and grooming don't really matter, we're just trying to find a dog that is suitable for a apartment. Also, we would prefer a medium to large dog, who's active and playful. Could anybody reccomend some breeds please? Thanks.
